Personal: I’m a pretty petite girl so naturally I never saw sports as hobby I could excel in. As I was working through college I felt like all I did was sit-behind a desk or in front of a book all day and saw my energy level sinking. I was looking for an outlet to relieve stress and maintain my weight and so I started going to the gym. Soon I got bored of the meat head gym with girls prancing around in make up. I was looking for a greater challenge and to work out with more serious athletes. My cousin Trung invited me to compete in races with himself and Sway and being competitive it was a venture I couldn’t turn down and so the journey began…

Why you chose “Tri With Sway”: Coach Sway has inspired me in many ways. She is not only a motivational coach but also a great friend and caring role model. She guides us through individualized workouts and invests time in each individual’s progress. I’ve looked into various other groups and charities to train with and by far this has been the best experience. I have had a lot of fun participating in the 5k and tri groups.

Why you are participating in endurance sports: I enjoy the physical and mental challenge, some days more than others but in the end it has always been worth it. Endurance sports as a lifestyle is a rewarding alternative to dieting and a recreational activity to travel and meet other athletes.

Goals: To become faster, more specifically improve in swimming. This year I plan to complete my first Olympic distance Triathlon and participate in the Ragnar Relay Run Across Florida and finish my first full marathon early next year.

* Race into Summer 5k-June 2008, PR: 24:08; 2nd place in age group
